Cassie Opiate (born Cassandra Peterson) was the guitarist in Deathsex Bloodbath following Caitred Alabaster's departure from the band. She also briefly played with the band in 2019, at Switchblade's behest.

Cassie-Opiate

Early life

Cassie grew up in a moneyed family and studied in an exclusive private school in Switzerland. Well known as a socialite even by the time of her 18th birthday, it was expected that Cassie would become a highly-photographed figure in the Kardashian or Hilton mode, with similarly fleeting interests in fashion, perfume, modelling and acting.

The turning point in her life was attending a $10,000 songwriting retreat with a well-known popular folk singer, previously a punk frontman, which she attended as a favour to a mate. She found the crusts gave her an excitement that was almost entirely absent from her trouble-free life as a rich girl, and traded her viola for an Epiphone. Before long, she was acting as something of a tearaway, appearing onstage at Offspring gigs and sharing bunks with punks at the Warped Tour. Commentators at the time felt that the next stage for Cassie would be to either forego her rebellious phase and move back into normalising her career with reality TV and endorsement deals, or to actually join some ridiculous punk band.

Deathsex Bloodbath

Cassie replaced Caitred Alabaster in Deathsex in time for the 'Deathsex Bloodbath IV' tour. Regarded as something of a stunt replacement by both Deathsex and non-Deathsex fans, Cassie was up against it from the start, despite nailing all the guitar parts. Masokiss's departure after the tour put more focus on Opiate and she left the band after contributing to the writing, recording and touring of 'Doomsday Perverted'.

Opinions on Cassie since then have polarised debate: many think that her performances over-delivered against expectations, but against a backdrop where the rot had set in generally for DSB, and in a dynamic with neither Caitred or Masokiss were in the band.

Post-Deathsex Bloodbath

Sadogasm believed that Cassie had joined a convent, but there is little evidence of this, and she denied it in March 2019. She is believed to be aiming for a career as a social media influencer, with her Instagram followers closing in on double figures.

Return to Deathsex Bloodbath

Cassie, or a parallel dimension version of Cassie, made a brief return to Deathsex in 2019, playing at the Backhaus gig. Indications from the gig were that Switchblade had approached her to replace Justin Appropriate as guitarist, following Justin's death.
